Scientists are mapping the brain to show that people derive pleasure from talking about themselves. Really?! You don’t say …  While I find it interesting - they say the brain’s reaction is the same as receiving money or food (my tastebuds beg to differ), I take issue with the statement that people are willing to forego money in order to speak about themselves. The test around that is that when asked to answer a set of questions about Obama (paid) or about themselves (unpaid), they chose to answer about themselves even though they got no money. Well I’d choose that too. I don’t know anything about Obama! It’s way easier to answer a question related to myself than about someone else. Anyways, the brain scan is kinda cool. And science is fascinating, but this test is a little silly.
